Garnet Hazard Floral Watercolor Painting Listed Canadian Artist

Garnet Hazard (1907-1987), Canadian. Beautiful watercolor painting on paper featuring a stylized floral bouquet in shades of red, yellow, purple and white. The piece has definite Art Deco influences. Signed lower right. Vintage Winnipeg art gallery sticker on the back. Matted with hand detailing and framed in a vintage gilt frame. Sight 17” x 15 ½.” Frame 25 ¼” x 22 5/8.” 

Born in Ontario, and raised in Saskatchewan, Hazard earned a teacher’s certificate and taught in rural Saskatchewan before moving to the US to pursue his art studies. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, and the American Academy of Art before returning to Saskatchewan where he became the Director of Art Education at the Regina Technical College for many years. He later went on to become an instructor at the Carnegie Institute in Chicago. His work has been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions in both the US and Canada.

Artwork is in very good condition, no defects noted. The matting has some spot of foxing, and the frame has some separation at the corners as seen. See photos.
