Alex Young is known for his commissioned artworks of the WA State ferries which were featured on Washington State Ferries annual posters for many years and are now collector’s items. In 1989 and 1993, his paintings of a salmon and duck were featured on two Washington stamps issued by the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife. Former Governor Booth Gardner supported Young's artwork exhibit, which traveled the state in 1989 to celebrate Washington's Centennial.
